Virtually identical in encepagement to the corresponding white, but incorporating red Pinot from Bouzy, Clicquot’s 2004 Brut Rose offers abundance of fresh, juicy sour cherry accented with black tea and leather, a fine grain of tannin lending stimulation in a finish otherwise dominantly fruity and a bit extraneously sweet. I would plan on drinking this soon.
As the pink expression of Brut Carte Jaune, Veuve Clicquot Rosé shares the same structure: to complete this base, the Cellar Master adds a blend of red wines sourced from selected black grapes to ensure the marvellous balance of this unique Rosé wine.
Pinot Noir dominates (50 to 55%), ensuring the intensity of the Clicquot style
Chardonnay (28 to 33%) lends finesse and elegance
Pinot Meunier (15 to 20%) rounds out the blend
Priceless reserve wines (from 25% to 35%, sometimes as much as 40%), both white and red, ensure the continuity of the House style
It offers the eye radiant colour, its nose is intense and elegant. Notes of raspberry, wild strawberry and cherry predominate, followed by a touch of dried fruits and pastry. In the mouth, the attack is powerful, leaving behind a harmony of fruits. Elegant and sensual, the wine offers exceptional balance and surprising intensity.
