This Acre Zinfandel is a wonderful example of what makes Napa Valley Zinfandel, particularly from mid-valley locations like Oakville, so special. In 2012 early bud break and a long stretch of classic warm days and cool allowed the fruit to develop for an extended time until finally picked on October 21st.
Such an even and extended maturation period allowed for the outstanding flavor development so apparent in this beautifully balanced and structured wine. The aromas of briary wild blackberry and strawberry continue in the mouth with subtle notes of brown sugar and caramel. Inclusion of Rhône varietals in the blend adds refinement and spicy and earthy notes.
